Read Isaiah 40-41. Isaiah 40:2 encourages the Jews that their exile is soon ending. Isaiah 40:3 foretells the ministry of John the Baptist as quoted in Matthew 3:3 – “A voice of one calling in the desert, ‘Prepare the way for the Lord, make straight paths for him.’”
