Many books in the Bible were written by prophets – people with a message from God for the people and the kings. It is difficult to give precise dates to many of these books, and often scholars do not agree on dating. When possible we’ll read them when they fit chronologically. These messages often sound harsh, but remember God’s intention: that people would turn from evil and avoid future disaster. He says, “ ‘I take no pleasure in the death of the wicked, but rather that they turn from their ways and live. Turn! Turn from your evil ways! Why will you die, people of Israel?’ ” Ezekiel 33:11 (NIV)
